John McCain and Sarah Palin, Serial Liars
Jeez, every time I turn around there's something else that McCain-Palin is lying about. I mean, I've just seen these in the last hour alone:

  • Report: Palin Did Not Visit Iraq (Washington Post): "Aides to Gov. Sarah Palin are scrambling to explain details of her only trip outside North America--which, according to a new report, did not include Iraq, as the McCain-Palin campaign had initially claimed. The campaign also said she had been to Ireland; that turned out to have been a refueling stop."

  • McCain-Palin Crowd-Size Estimates Not Backed by Officials (Bloomberg): "In recent days, journalists attending the rallies have been raising questions about the crowd estimates with the campaign. In a story on Sept. 11 about Palin's attraction for some Virginia women voters, Washington Post reporter Marc Fisher estimated the crowd to be 8,000, not the 23,000 cited by the campaign." The McCain-Palin campaign has attributed numbers to fire marshals and the Secret Service, who deny that they supplied any such information to the campaign.

  • And from the Washington Post's "Fact Check" column, McCain gets "four Pinocchios" (that's as many as you can get) for claiming that Palin didn't take any earmarks as governor of Alaska. The facts are spelled out there.

I realize that just about all political campaigns involve a certain amount of spin, but McCain seems to be lying about everything. Couple this with the Karl Rove tactics of his recent commercials and you've got one of the ugliest and most untruthful campaigns in modern history. McCain once seemed to possess some admirable traits, but now he has completed his transformation into another George W. Bush, another Dick Cheney. Pathetic. Pathetic and sad.

But wait! There's more!

Campaign of Lies Disgraces McCain (St. Petersburg Times): "McCain's straight talk has become a toxic mix of lies and double-speak. It is leaving a permanent stain on his reputation for integrity, and it is a short-term strategy that eventually will backfire with the very types of independent-thinking voters that were so attracted to him."

McCain Barbs Stirring Outcry as Distortions (New York Times): "Harsh advertisements and negative attacks are a staple of presidential campaigns, but Senator John McCain has drawn an avalanche of criticism this week from Democrats, independent groups and even some Republicans for regularly stretching the truth in attacking Senator Barack Obama's record and positions."

According to her interview with Charlie Gibson (when he confronted her about the earmarks for The Bridge), she (not answering his question) said earmarks are a problem with Congress, and that's why we need the maverick team of McCain/Palin to clean up Congress so it doesn't give out so many hidden earmarks. Apparently as long as people know about the earmarks, they're not a problem.

With all due respect, the avalanche of attacks by the Obama campaign and their supporters, to most people with an independent open mind, are tales "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing".

That politicians and pundits are suddenly concerned with "earmarks", have made an issue of crowd size estimates, and are leaving no square inch of frozen tundra unturned in their attempts to find dirt, all show a panic and hysteria I've never seen since I began seriously following presidential campaigns as a poli sci grad student in college.

Regardless of one's political ideology, the behavior of the in-the-tank for Obama Media should have us all very uneasy about the substitution and influence of an agenda-driven news media for an objective and fair free press. The fact that Sen. Obama has been given a virtually free pass for 19 months has not escaped the attention of most people, and all of this unseemly "piling-on" of Gov. Palin, her children, her faith, and her record as a reformer seem to be backfiring.

Of course, historically, negative advertising works so the final consequences of the assaults remain to be seen.

Time will tell.

Good luck to you and yours.

"In the tank for Obama"? You have to be kidding me. Obama, the Muslim with the crazy Christian pastor who hates America, has a terrorist wife, was educated in a madrassa, and is arrogant and elitist and sexist and not black enough and too black? The media's all in the tank for that guy, right. Give me a break.

The "piling on" of Palin is necessary because nobody knew much about her before she was chosen, and everything she's presented herself to be has been a lie.

May I remind you that it was the Clinton campaign that started the "Obama is a Muslim rumor" and that the MSM has dismissed it as a non-issue, as well as the McCain campaign. According to Sen. Obama, his father, grandfather, and stepfather, I believe, were Muslim at least in name, and he did study the Koran in school and apparently attended Mosque and could chant the evening call to prayers. That he never became a "practicing Muslim" I take at his word, although is of no particular interest to me. I have had Muslim friends and associates and they were all fine people.

However, the MSM did ignore Sen. Obama's 20-year affiliation with a racist, anti-Semitic, hate-baiting church for well over a year until everyone and his sister found out for themselves through YouTube.

The truth is that we still don't know anything about Sen. Obama despite 19 months of campaigning, except that he is the most ideologically leftist candidate ever offered as a nominee for the presidency.

A one page medical summary. "Lost" State of Illinois Senate records and calenders. No evidence to show he turned down offers from Wall Street to become a "community organizer". No published articles at Harvard or anywhere else. No documentation of accomplishments as a lawyer, instructor, or community organizer - although I do know he worked for ACORN, an organization perpetually in trouble with the Deds for their participation in voter registration fraud.

The mainstream media have admitted their infatuation with Sen. Obama and many have been questioning whether they have gone too far. MSNBC just demoted Chris "Tingles" Matthews and Keith Olbermann from their ill-conceived anchor chairs.

I have friends who are leftist ideologues or leaning in that direction. People are free to adhere to whatever political philosophy they wish. Like I tell my friends. I respect a person's right to promote whatever agenda they wish. Just don't try to hide your intentions and attempt to fool others by pretending you're something you're not.

The vast majority of Americans "instinctively" know when something is not right. These are the people the left doesn't trust to make decisions, IMHO. Sometimes they err, but they eventually get it right.

I am not saying Barack Obama is a bad person. I love my leftist friends. We all generally want good things. The just have very bad ideas sometimes, and when they express them to me, I am only happy to point them out, and why they're bad.

The world is too dangerous a place for bad ideas.

It is not worth my time to refute your every outlandish claim about the Clinton campaign, Barack Obama, and Chris Matthews (who has said that John McCain "deserves to be president"). Hitting brick walls is not my idea of fun. You are free to cling to your Foxified view of the world, and to your own very bad ideas, but I'm not dragging out this useless encounter. Have a good day.

I'm sure you prefer to be informed so I'll save you the trouble concerning the Clinton campaign:

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2007/12/05/clinton_campaign_volunteer_out.html

A bit of advice. You should never resort to name-calling and running away when confronted with facts and differences of opinion. The only advantage of speaking to the choir is that it is good for the ego.

Have a good day and a great life!

Your source indicates that a Clinton campaign volunteer or two forwarded an e-mail about Barack Obama being a Muslim--not that it was a coordinated effort from the campaign or that it originated there. Sheesh.

As to your advice, I did not resort to name-calling, so I don't know what you're talking about there. And call it running away if you want--I knew my reply could be seen that way--but I simply have better things to do than waste my limited time and energy getting involved in a pointless, drawn-out argument with a stranger on the Internet. Life is too short, and I get enough right-wing propaganda elsewhere.
