Record release party
Songs covered by Dead Girls Ruin Everything with Andrew Connor of Ghosty tonight:

"Shake Some Action" (The Flamin' Groovies)
"And Your Bird Can Sing" (The Beatles)
"Hanging on the Telephone" (The Nerves)
a Big Star song I'm already blanking on (was it "You Get What You Deserve"?)
a dB's song I don't know

DGRE also played many of the songs from their new album, which was appropriate, as this was their Lawrence "CD release party" show. The vibe was better than last week at the Brick, but the sound was worse. I went with Aaron, Betsy, and Betsy's friend Lynn. I also ran into Hailey and Nick, among others. The band Conner opened and were eh. Didn't really like 'em, but they didn't bother me.

Update: The Big Star song was "You Get What You Deserve," and that comes straight from a member of the band. So I'm not totally losing my mind.

Yeah, it was good to see you!

The covers with Andrew were enjoyable.

A lot of people were having trouble with the Big Star title. After the show, outside the bar, it seemed like everyone was wondering around, asking what the title was.

But yeah, good to see you again!

Hmm, if so many people were having trouble with the title, then I'm probably wrong with what I guessed. It's probably one with a less obvious title for its content. Man, I'm slipping.

Good to see you, too.

Hey, whattaya know? I asked Eric about the Big Star song last night, and it was the one I was thinking, "You Get What You Deserve." Thank goodness I'm not totally losing my mind.

Ah, but those are some of my favorite songs, especially "Shake Some Action."

You are a more learned music fan than I, sir.

I'm older than you, and I'm a giant nerd. I've probably devoted more of my life to this stuff than anything else, except possibly sleep.

It's being used for other purposes these days.

I liked that first band for about two minutes. And then I hated them.

I didn't hate them, but I didn't like them. I didn't even remember seeing them before, but I had, at a Pitch showcase a couple of years ago. I had to check my list. That's how memorable they were.
